Izmir is a great modern city with many things to see. While it is not very touristy it does have a great vibrance to it. Try the many restaurants as everywhere I ate, food was good. For a special night out there is a restaurant on a cliff overlooking Izmir. Buses are a good cheap option to get around although bus stops don't have guides to what numbers stop there and where they go but ask any local and they will help. Also take the ferry to the other side of Izmir, there are beautiful waterfront walks.

Didn't venture outside the hotel as late p.m. arrival in the winter and an early start the next morning. Not far from the park.
