Travelling with the kids, we always stop at the Taronga Zoo and the Aquarium. We also went to the Power House Museum which has hosting the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Exhibit. Sydney is the only Australian stop for this travelling exhibit. For shopping, it is much nicer to head out of the city centre. Just around the hotel you have all of the international labels and major department stores, but head out to Queen's Street in Woollahra and then stroll down Oxford Stret to Paddington. Here you will find lots of small boutiques. The other area is Double Bay. Taxis are affordable. We walked a lot and of course took the ferry out to Taronga Zoo.

Brisbane is a very compact city and everything is within walking distance. Queen Street Mall is the place to go for shopping. The only downside is that shops close too early.

Greenwood Plaza with its shops and restaurants is a 5-minute walk away. There you can catch a train to the city or Milsons Point (for Kirribilly and the location of the large outdoor swimming pool). Taxi fare to the city costs about 12 dollars. Kinko's is just around the corner for your e-mail needs! Would heartily recommend the McLaren if you wish to stay in a pleasant residential location, outside the city but within striking distance. Taxi fare to the airport costs about 50 dollars.

Sydney is now starting to get expensive for clothes etc. Don't forget to get sales tax back on purchases over AUD300.

Noosa is great especially the natural park. Take a moment to go to Eumundi (~20km away) for the outstanding market (wednesday, saturday).

The Queen Victoria Market is located just within walking distance of the hotel and bargain shoppers should visit the market as clothing, opal, food and many other finds are sold in the market. I took a cab to the Crown Entertainment Complex for AU$6.00 and had dinner in the Waterfront seafood restaurant, supposedly a trendy restaurant; the food was excellent, I definitely recommend the pacific oysters as Australia is known for its oyster.

Sydney is not as expensive as many people think. The shopping is great, so is the food and you are lost for choice with the activities available. Do not drive in the city its dificult at best to find your way around. Taxis are v. cheap, buses and rail services are good but walking is better. Plenty of coffee shops to rest the weary feet and they all have top notch food.

Tours to Kakadu National Park (a must!!), Darwin, harbour cruise, Kathryn Gorge. Supermarket within 5 minutes walk. Bus connection to Darwin.

Stayed at Four Points By Sheraton Darling Harbour Sydney - Sydney, Australia.

Position of hotel is superb, sitting right on the front of Darling Harbour it has easy access for all. City is a 5 minute walk away with excellent shopping in the QVB centre and boutiques and major department stores on George Street.
Trip to the Blue Mountains is a must for the day, beautiful scenery and a sharp contrast to the city make sure you put comfy shoes on though! Bondi beach was a dissappointed although if you like sunbathing it's the best one around. Trip to the casino at Star City or even the theatre there is a must lots to see and do.
Restaurants - Darling Harbour is superb for food 'Waterfront' does the best baguettes in Australia which are a meal in themselves. 'Jordans' - fantastic seafood and reasonable. 'Florinnias' - good for a coffee and a cake. Bars - 'Home' has a good atmosphere.
