Stayed at  Kaya Prestige - Izmir, Turkey.
Izmir is a great modern city with many things to see. While it is not very touristy it does have a great vibrance to it. Try the many restaurants as everywhere I ate, food was good. For a special night out there is a restaurant on a cliff overlooking Izmir. Buses are a good cheap option to get around although bus stops don't have guides to what numbers stop there and where they go but ask any local and they will help. Also take the ferry to the other side of Izmir, there are beautiful waterfront walks.

Stayed at  Akol - Canakkale / Gallipoli, Turkey.
We chose Canakkale as a rest stop between Istanbul and Assos, but found it had more to offer than we were expecting. A good mixture between a traveller's centre and a busy commercial town. The only trip we took in our short stay was a dolmus to Troy (Truva) which we really enjoyed - not as big as we expected but a good demonstration of the layers of city upon city.

Stayed at  Richmond Hotel Istanbul - Istanbul, Turkey.
See the Whirling Dervishes at the Mehlevi Monastery (just a short walk from the hotel), also the Galatasaray fish market (also a short walk from the hotel). Cabs to Sultanahmet are inexpensive and easy to get if you have the hotel call one for you. Being a single woman travelling alone, I enjoyed the feeling of security being at the Richmond Hotel Istanbul.

A Butt 01 February 2003
Stayed at  Dedeman - Istanbul, Turkey.
The hotel is not centrally located. However, the Metro station is just ten minutes' walk away, and it takes another ten minutes to reach the city centre. Far preferable to sitting in Istanbul traffic jams in a taxi...

P Gendre 14 December 2002
Stayed at  Richmond Hotel Istanbul - Istanbul, Turkey.
The best animation and restaurant around the hotel and inside the hotel. 15 mn of markets and historic place by walking.
