Stayed at Aberotel Montparnasse - Paris, France.

This part of Montparnasse is pleasant but it would take at least 20-25 minutes on foot (with luggage in tow) to get to the Air France airport coach stop near the Montparnasse Station. The coach from Orly stops there too and there is also a coach stop bound for Charles De Gaulle.

Nice is very pleasant although we only spent the one night there before moving down the coast. Best to avoid (from previous experience) during high season, from both a traffic and a 'crowding' point of view. Best bars and restaurants, naturally, are near the seafront- around 20 mins' walk. Buy a 'Carte Isabelle' at the railway station opposite the hotel for a day's unlimited travel (valid until midnight) on all stops between Ventimiglia (Italy), Monaco-Monte Carlo, Nice, Cannes, St Raphael & Frejus. A real bargain at 10 Euros per person, between early June & end of Sep. Do it on a Friday and catch the market at Ventimiglia, one of the best across Europe. Ventimiglia is around 50 minutes from Nice, Monte Carlo around 30 minutes, and St Raphael around 1 hour 20 minutes. The view from the train along the coast, especially between Nice & St Raphael, is fantastic on a good day. One of the best days of our holiday by far!
There are also good coach services from the seafront connecting Nice to most major attractions in the area, but we hired a car for 2 weeks and this was the best way to do it!

We did all the big touristy things which you can find out about on the internet : Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, etc. All I have to say to get to the Louvre and the Musee d'Orsay early unless you like crowds of people. >br> The most important thing to do while in Paris, in my opinion, is WATCH YOUR PURSE! I caught a 12 year old boy who looked like a regular Parisian with his hand in my friend's purse while entering a Metro stop in Montmatre. He had unzipped it and undone the front latch in under 5 seconds. The only reason I caught him was because he was much too close to her -- there was no one else around, so he had no reason to be right up against her back. Her purse was just at her side, and she only had to let her guard down for a second. The only reason he didn't get anything was because her wallet was too big to get out of her purse easily. Be careful, and definately use your hotel's valuables lockup to secure your passport and tickets. Be especially careful in the Metro and in front of Notredame.
