Stayed at  Carlton Hotel, The - Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
Try the Mussel Inn on Rose Street. Owned by Scottish shellfish farmers, food is excellent and a kilo pot of mussels with your sauce of choice is under £10. Huge scallops and other seafood also on the menu.

London is an expensive metropolis. Food, entertainment and touring are all pricey. Some really good food for the price at restaurants in and around the Notting Hill, Queensway, Paddington - the nearby neighborhoods to the hotel - China Town and Soho areas. Internet suggestions not up to expectations and extremely expensive. Best to explore on own.

Stayed at  Brunel - London, United Kingdom.
We visited the Imperial War Museum in Duxford near Cambridge - went there by train and bus. If you like airplanes, it's worth a visit! If you enjoy warships, you should also go see the HMS Belfast near Tower Bridge. We ate one night at the Café Pasta near the Seven Dials - it was yummy. Also the Indian restaurants in the Paddington area are worth visiting.

London is expensive for what you get in terms of service and quality. I often find the locals to be quite rude. The Tube can be daunting, once you look at the map, but give it a try and you'll soon get the hang of it. Would recommend Royal Garden in St. Johns Wood as it serves some of the best Dim Sum and Chinese food in London.

S Sulaiman 07 June 2003
Stayed at  An-nur Hotel - London, United Kingdom.
Location is very convenient. MacDonald's, Middle-eastern , Chinese, eateries etc can be found two streets away. So are supermarkets, a shopping complex, drugstores and Cash machines, Hyde Park, bus stops, Underground stations and much much more.

L Martin 01 June 2003
Stayed at  Britannia Hotel Birmingham - Birmingham, United Kingdom.
First time we have been to Birmingham. We went because there was a wonderful musical showing at the Hippodrome Theatre (Miss Saigon).

We were incredibly impressed with Birmingham. It has beautiful canals running through it, with colourful barges going up and down the canals. There were several waterside bars, cafes and restaurants. In the city there are many water features, fountains etc.

We were fortunate that the weather was superb (27 degrees celcius) whilst we were there so we sat outside for our meals and enjoyed drinking wine and beer while listening to steel bands, jazz bands etc. Birmingham is competing for the title "European City of Culture 2008" and from what we saw, they have a very good chance of winning it!

T Molden 08 March 2003
Stayed at  Stormont - Belfast, United Kingdom.
We went to Darcys Restaurant in Belfast - lovely food, lots of it and not too expensive. Also managed to get a booth in the famous Crown Pub. We hired a car from the airport and did the nothern coastal route - stunning all the way!

L Cooper 17 November 2002
Stayed at  La Reserve Hotel - London, United Kingdom.
Visited exhibition at the British Museum, recommend "La Porte des Indes," an excellent Indian restaurant near Marble Arch. The best part about the restaurant is that it doesn't have the "standard" Indian fare. The offerings are a sampling of the various regions, ranging from venison to quail to lobster to king prawns to vegetarian, all prepared in interesting ways.

D Barlin 11 November 2002
Stayed at  Novotel Manchester Centre - Manchester, United Kingdom.
There is a lively China Town, excellent value at the "Pacific Restaurant". There are a lot of good places to eat, great movie theatres and everything is accessible by walking.

Z Chen 16 April 2002
Stayed at  Pembridge Palace Hotel - London, United Kingdom.
Eating and visiting are all convenience.
